Update on UIGEA

The House Financial Services Committee this week passed the second version of Barney Frank’s Payments System Protection Act, HR 6870, by a vote of 30-19. Initially it was discussed and voted on orally, after which the Republican Congressman Spencer Bachus asked for a roll call vote. Then the Committee reconvened for the formal vote the legislation was passed comfortably.

Barney Frank later commented “We made some changes to HR 5767 to try to get a majority of the votes as well as a broader agreement. First, it had always been our intention to allow pro sports leagues to opt out. They asked to be opted out of the bill and we’ve done that. The bill will protect sports from being included. It also asks that a list be prepared by the Treasury of what is and isn’t acceptable. You have a right to know what the law is and this would give people the right to know what is and isn’t covered under the UIGEA.” The measure may now move on to vote on the floor of the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, European Union investigators are currently visiting members of Congress and the Executive Branch, to look into allegations that the U.S. Department of Justice is breaching international trade treaties. The allegations surround the continuing enforcement of laws against European businesses and individuals that at one time participated in the U.S. online gaming industry, regulations that have been ruled illegal by the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The dispute over U.S. enforcement actions against online gambling companies based in the European Union could next be headed to the WTO.

Forget the UIGEA!

Barney Frank is right in saying that we have to know what the law is. As it stands, it is not ilegal for you to play bingo online, nor to make a gambling bet online. The the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) is a banking amendment, not a gambling amendment. Nobody is going to come knocking your door down because you are playing bingo online, so, what you need to do is protect yourself by only playing at online bingo sites that have a good reputation for paying out winnings. There are many ways you can deposit into an online bingo account, even if you reside in the U.S.A. and there are also many ways that you can be paid your winnings, so long as you are with a reputable bingo online operator, you have no worries, so where to play?  Starlight Bingo is my recommendation for online bingo U.S.A. They have been around for about 6 years, and still growing strong. They have an excellent reputation for paying all players including those residing in the U.S.

Starlight bingo gives all its new players 100% first deposit bonus, but it doesn’t stop there, because you get a bonus for every subsequent deposit you make with them. So for instance if your next deposit is between $20 and $149, you get 50% bonus. If you deposit $150 to $299 you get 75% bonus, and if you deposit $300 or over, you get 100% bonus, every time!

They have great online bingo and other online games, Pull Tabs and Keno are some of my favourites, and can have big payouts. There are also bingo games where you can win an online bingo cash prize, for instance every Saturday and Sunday at 8pm EST during September, there are $500 ‘Must Go’ bingo games. That means exactly what it says, the $500 cash prize must go on that game. And at 8pm to 9pm EST every day, Franklins Fortune bingo game offers $100 pots and a $2,500 jackpot. These kind of cash specials are regular at Starlight Bingo, as well as chat special games that run 24/7 where you can win extra bingo bonuses.

You can also play free bingo games in the 90 ball hall every day between 5pm to 5am BST, where you can win £5 pots, and £50 jackpots. I have to admit to drooling occasionally when listening to the male 90 ball bingo caller. Bingo online doesn’t come much better than this. Easy bingo download games, lots of bingo cash prizes, fun chat specials, free online bingo, and a secure and trusted payment system that works both ways, for you to pay in, and for them to pay you when you win. What more could you want? Sign up and start playing at Starlight Bingo now.
